Transplant Sport Ireland held its first Training/Meet up in Kilcullen Community Centre, Co Kildare on Sunday January 12th. The morning began with an introduction from TSI Team Manager Harry Ward welcoming all – including several new members. He spoke about upcoming events in 2025 for transplant sport.
Each then shared their own inspirational story with the group… some were liver recipients – others heart, kidney, and pancreas along with those currently on dialysis. It was obvious there was a shared story of courage, gratitude and a celebration of life.
Coaching was provided for Basketball, Badminton Pétanque and Football. With over 35 attending, it was a great start to the sporting year. The next Meet-up will be confirmed shortly. TSI would like to thank the coaches …Eoin Kelleher coached Pétanque ans Eoin is a Kidney recipient, Robbie England – kidney recipient and Patrick O Driscoll – Liver recipient coached Badminton, Mike Keohane – liver recipient coached Basketball and the three coaches from Kilcullen AFC: Mick, Greg and Nick.
TSI would also like to thank Enda O Neill, Manager of Kilcullen Community Centre for all his help and warm welcome. Thanks also to James Nolan for his ongoing support and to TSI Media Team Dee, Mick Riyadh and Ronan. A final thank you to all those attending the event – it was a true reflection of the success of Organ Donation.
